Building Your Website

Here is a basic overview of what you will do during this class.

We will register your domain, set up hosting, and install WordPress
Setting up WordPress settings
installing necessary plugins
picking a theme, setting it up, and customizing it
creating the pages
making the menu and adding the pages to it
setting up the blog
setting up contact forms
navigating the dashboard of WordPress websites.
intro to SEO, what it is, why you should know about it
General formatting information:

pictures
videos
text sizing and color
layout

Requirements:
You must bring your own laptop.
You must already have your domain name picked out, and a few other options in case your domain name is taken.
Unless we are hosting the website for you, you will need to be prepared to pay the hosting company for the hosting.This is generally $50-$85 per year, due at time of order.

Class Overview:
In this class we will be helping you to build your own personal, business, or hobby website. You will understand how to build pages, add text, photos, and videos to your website. Additionally, you will receive instruction on navigating the WordPress tools. We will NOT complete your site, as you will have to write your content, choose your photos and do all the things you need to do to complete your site. This is TRAINING on how to navigate and build the site on your own. It is STARTING a framework that you will complete on your time after the class. This class will be recorded, and/or we will have same topic video training on our TechTalkUniversity.com website that you will be given access to for 30 days following the class at no additional charge. This is provided to you for review of the entire class and helping you when you are back at your home or office working on your website.
